Stopping the car in the lot of the Senior Living, rain drumming down on him, he ran for the front entrance. Striding up to the door of the large building and ringing the bell, he waited impatiently, rain pelting down on his hair and dripping down his face.

After a while, the door opened and Mary stood there looking up at him, a quizzical look on her face.

"Cynthia's not here. I didn't expect her today."

"How is she? Is she alright?"

"She didn't call. I expect I'll hear from her tomorrow. She'll probably come in then."
